Sodium polyglutamate (γ-PGA)

[Product Introduction]

Sodium Polyglutamate (PGA) was first found in the high viscosity wiredrawing contained in natto foods. It is a amino acid anion polymer produced by microbial fermentation, it’s water-soluble, biodegradable and of high safety. Because it has excellent water solubility and is a natural moisturizing ingredient, it is now widely used in cosmetics & personal care.

The basic structure of Sodium polyglutamate (PGA) consists of D- and L-glutamic acid monomers which are connected by amid linkages between α-amino and γ-carboxyl groups. Large number of carboxyl along the molecule chain of PGA can form hydrogen bonding in a molecule or between different molecules. Thus it has high water absorb-ability and moisture-retaining capability.

PGA can be divided into many different types, such as PGA-HMW (high molecular weight) (about 1000KDa), PGA-LMW (low molecular weight) (about 100KDa), and PGA-Oligo (oligo molecular weight) (about 10KDa).

PGA-HMW: Long-lasting Moisturization
1. Moisturizing skin for longer hours
PGA has very strong hydration ability because of large number of hydrophilic groups along the molecule chain of PGA.
The transepidermal water loss (TEWL) experiment found that the moisturizing effect of PGA-HMW is better than that of hyaluronic acid and collagen

PGA-HMW can bring very smooth skin feeling, water-skiing touch feel, and can effectively reduce the viscosity caused by hyaluronic acid.

PGA-LMW: Skin moisturizing and healthy whitening

1. Healthy whitening

Tyrosinase is a key enzyme for the production of melanin in human skin. Studies found that PGA-LMW can mildly inhibit the function of tyrosinase and delay the formation of pigmentation. Brightening skin more gentle, PGA-LMW can achieve the efficacy of skin healthy brightening.

2.Increasing and Maintanining HA of Skin

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural component in human skin, but hyaluronidase (HAase) also exists in the skin. PGA-LMW can inhibit the activity of HAase, thus improve the stability and content of HA in skin.

PGA-oligo : Improving Nutrient Supply

1. Promote the production of NMF in inner skin

Natural moisturizing factor (N.M.F) is a variety of hygrophilic substances naturally existing in the cuticle of human skin, including 40% amino acid, 12% pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, 12% lactate, 7% urea and so on. PGA-oligo can improve the content of N.M.F, and then improve the skin's water binding force, which is beneficial to elimination of early skin wrinkles.

2. Energize your skin

With low molecular weight, less than 10kDa, PGA-oligo can reach the skin base and make the skin full of water.
Meanwhile, PGA-Oligo can conrol the free radical, repair photoaging, and restore youthful skin appearance.
