Reflex gauge glass is a type of sight glass used in industrial applications to measure the level of liquid in tanks or vessels.

 It consists of a flat glass plate with a transparent section and a reflex section. The transparent section allows direct viewing of the liquid, while the reflex section has a prism-like structure that reflects light when the liquid level is below the glass and appears dark when the liquid level is above the glass.

The principle behind reflex gauge glass is based on the difference in refractive index between liquid and gas/air. When the liquid is present, the light is refracted and absorbed by the liquid, making the reflex section appear dark. As the liquid level drops below the glass, the light passes through the gas/air, and the reflex section appears bright.

This type of gauge glass is commonly used in various industries, including chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and power plants, to provide a visual indication of liquid levels in boilers, storage tanks, reactors, and other vessels. It offers a reliable and straightforward method for monitoring liquid levels in industrial processes.

The reflex gauge glass often used together with non-asbestos gasket C4430 and a graphite gasket cushion to be installed in the level gauge.
