How do you measure blood pressure with a cuff?

1. Client is sitting or supine, arms are exposed, cuff band is not too tight, elbow is straight, palm facing up
2. Put the blood pressure monitor on and draw all the air out of the cuff. Place the cuff flat against the middle of the upper arm and insert your finger into it. The lower margin is 2--3 cm away from the elbow fossa.
3. Put on the stethoscope and place the stethoscope near the brachial artery in the medial fossa of the elbow. With the other hand close the nut on the valve, hold the balloon and pump into the cuff until the brachial pulse disappears, then add 20-30 mmHg. Then slowly release the valve to allow the mercury to drop slowly, noting the scale indicated by mercury. When the first throb is heard in the stethoscope, the scale indicated by the mercury column is systolic pressure. When the pulsating sound suddenly becomes weak or disappears, the scale indicated by the mercury column is diastolic pressure.
4. After the measurement is completed, exhaust the remaining air in the cuff, tighten the nut on the valve, untie the cuff, arrange it, and put it in the box to prevent the glass from breaking.
5. Fractional form, namely SBP/DBP mmHg, has been used in place of kPa, each kPa = 7.5mmHg.

Note: When measuring blood pressure, the "0" point of the sphygmomanometer should be at the same level as the brachial artery and heart. If the limb is too tall, the blood pressure measured is often too low, otherwise it is too high. Secondly, hemiplegia patients should take its healthy side arm.
