Available Torlon® Grades

Torlon ® 4203 Electrical Grade PAI Extruded - Torlon 4203 PAI offers highest toughness and impact strength of all Torlon PAI grades. This extruded grade is a common choice for precision parts in high-tech applications. In addition, its excellent electrical insulating properties have made it a common choice for applications in the semiconductor and electrical applications. 

Torlon ® 4503 Electrical Grade PAI Compression Molded - Compression molded Torlon® 4503 Electrical Grade PAI is commonly used for dies and patterns of formed metal parts or as thermal insulators and isolators. It is similar in composition to Extruded Torlon® 4203 PAI and selected when larger shapes are required.

Torlon ® 4275 Bearing Grade PAI Extruded - Torlon 4275 is a wear-resistant grade of polyamide-imde (PAI) offering an excellent balance of mechanical properties and wear resistance for more demanding applications. It has comparable strength but a higher modulus than 4301 combined with better wear resistance at both high velocity and high-pressure conditions. NOTE: This less-common bearing grade is NOT AVAILABLE FROM STOCK, but rather can be offered ONLY BY SPECIAL ORDER ... long lead times and large minimum order quantities may apply when ordering these grades in sheet or rod forms.

Torlon ® 4301 Bearing Grade PAI Extruded - Torlon ® 4301 extruded PAI is primarily used for wear and friction parts. It offers a very low expansion rate, low coefficient of friction and exhibits little or no slip-stick in use. Torlon ® 4301's flexural modulus of 1,000,000 psi is higher than most other advanced engineering plastics. This grade excels in severe service wear applications such as non- lubricated bearings, seals, bearing cages and reciprocating compressor parts.

Torlon ® 4501 Bearing Grade PAI Compression Molded - Compression Molded Torlon® 4501 Bearing Grade PAI is well suited for general purpose wear and friction parts. It has a higher compressive strength and can therefore carry more load than Torlon® 4540 PAI. It is similar in composition to Torlon® 4301 PAI and selected when larger shapes are required.

Torlon ® 4435 Bearing Grade PAI Extruded - Torlon ® 4435 PAI is specifically designed to provide exceptionally low wear performance in non-lubricated applications even at high pressure and velocity (PV) conditions. With a proprietary blend of carbon fiber, graphite, mica and PTFE fillers, 4435 offers the best possible advantages of lower friction and increased wear resistance as compared with other more common Torlon Bearing Grades. Not only is Torlon 4435 particularly suited to applications where lubrication is impossible or undesirable, it provides an additional margin of safety for lubricated systems in the event that lubrication is lost. NOTE: This less-common bearing grade is NOT AVAILABLE FROM STOCK, but rather can be offered ONLY BY SPECIAL ORDER ... long leadtimes and large minimum order quantities may apply when ordering these grades in sheet or rod forms.

Torlon ® 4540 Bearing Grade PAI Compression Molded - Compression Molded Torlon® 4540 PAI is a seal and bearing grade offering a very low coefficient of friction and good wear properties. It was developed specifically for use in rotating equipment. Its composition is the same as the former Torlon® 4340 PAI and used when larger (especially tubular) shapes are required. Typical applications for Torlon® 4540 PAI include labyrinth seals, wear rings, bushings, and bearings of all types.

Torlon ® 5030 Glass Filled PAI Extruded - Extruded Torlon® 5030 PAI is 30% glass-reinforced offering high rigidity, retention of stiffness, a low expansion rate and improved load carrying capabilities. This grade is well suited for applications in the electrical/electronic, business equipment, aircraft and aerospace industries.

Torlon ® 5530 Glass Filled PAI Compression Molded - Compression Molded Torlon® 5530 PAI is 30% glass-reinforced and ideal for higher load structural or electronic applications. This grade is similar in composition to Torlon® T5030 PAI. It is selected for larger shapes or when the greatest degree of dimensional control is required.

Torlon ® 7130 Carbon Filled PAI Extruded - Extruded Torlon® 7130 PAI is 30% carbon fiber reinforced. It offers exceptional stiffness, non-abrasive wear performance and the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of all Torlon® materials.
