Glass Rotameter
2 year agoWorking principle and structure
The measuring part of the instrument consists of a vertically installed glass cone tube and a float inside the tube. The big end of the tapered tube is upward, and the float moves up and down along the axis of the tapered tube with the flow rate. When the fluid passes through the tapered tube from bottom to top, due to the action of the fluid, a differential pressure is generated on the upper and lower end surfaces of the float, and the float rises under the action of this differential pressure. When the rising force acting on the float is equal to the combined force of gravity, buoyancy and viscosity, the float will be stable at a certain height. At this time, the height of the float in the tapered tube has a corresponding relationship with the flow rate passing through it. This height is a measure of the size of the flow. Features are: simple structure, reliable performance, small pressure loss, excellent flow adjustment performance, special design to facilitate performance improvement

Installation and use
1. Installation
(1) Before installing the instrument, carefully check whether the glass tube is damaged, remove the filler to prevent the float from jumping, and check whether the float can slide up and down freely.
(2) The flow meter must be installed vertically on the pipe (with the big end of the tapered pipe upward), and the flow direction is from bottom to top. The piping system in which the flow meter is installed should have sufficient steel, and strong twisting of the flow meter should be avoided during installation.
(3) To facilitate observation and maintenance, sufficient space should be left during installation.
(4) If there is backflow in the pipeline, especially when there is water hammer, in order to prevent damage to the flow meter, a one-way check valve should be installed after the downstream valve of the flow meter. In order to facilitate Inspection, maintenance, replacement of flow meters and cleaning of pipelines, it is recommended to install a bypass pipe as shown in Figure 5.
(5) When the measured fluid contains larger particulate matter or is dirty, a filter should be installed upstream of the flow meter.
(6) When the measured fluid is a pulsating flow and the float fluctuation cannot be measured, a buffer or setter of appropriate size should be installed upstream of the flow meter to eliminate the pulsation.
(7) When used to measure gas, in order to ensure that the instrument can work stably, the pressure at the outlet of the flow meter should not be too low. The valve upstream of the flow meter should be fully open, and the valve downstream of the flow meter should be used to adjust the flow, and this valve should not be too far from the outlet of the flow meter.
Use
(1) When the flow meter is used, the upstream valve should be slowly opened to fully open, and then the downstream valve should be slowly opened to adjust the flow. When the flow meter stops working, the upstream valve should be slowly closed first, and then the downstream valve should be closed. If the float does not rise after unscrewing the valve, the valve should be closed to find the cause, and then reopened after the fault is eliminated.
(2) If the float is found to be stuck during use, never hit the glass cone tube with any tool. You can shake the tube or disassemble the tube to eliminate it.
(3) During use, if the measured fluid is found to overflow from the sealing area of the glass tube, just remove the front and rear covers and tighten the gland bolts until no overflow occurs. If the above method does not work, the sealing packing is generally invalid.
(4) If the cone tube and float are contaminated, they should be cleaned in time.
(5) If the working diameter (reading edge) of the float is damaged or worn, it should be recalibrated.
(6) When the state of the measured fluid (density, temperature, pressure, viscosity, etc.) is different from the flowmeter scale state, the indication value must be corrected.
