Lemon (scientific name: Citrus limon (L.) Burm. f.) is a dicotyledonous plant belonging to the citrus family Rutaceae. In a mouse model of cerulein induced acute pancreatitis (AP), geranyltin pretreatment significantly reduced serum amylase and lipase levels, histological damage, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) -α secretion, interleukin (IL) -1β, IL-6, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, and trypsinogen activating peptide (TAP) level. It induces the expression of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and activates the NF-κB signaling pathway. Therefore, diosmetin may become a new therapeutic agent in future clinical trials for the treatment of AP. In vitro, diosmetin scavengers free radicals. These results demonstrated that geranyltin reduced the process of airway remodeling and fibrosis by inhibiting ROS generation and inactivating PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways to alleviate TGF-β1-induced EMT. Diosmetin can alleviate the pathological changes of lung tissue, EMT, bronchial asthma, lung injury and other respiratory diseases through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and triggering different signaling pathways.
6. Kidney disease diosmetin pretreatment reduced the inflammatory response and renal tubular cell apoptosis in acute kidney injury, and significantly increased the expression of antioxidant proteins. The renoprotective effects of geranitin involve inhibition of Nf-κB expression and mitochondrial apoptotic pathway and activation of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway. Therefore, geranitin can improve renal injury after renal ischemia/reperfusion.
