Zirconium silicon fume for footbridge concrete: This zirconium microsilica is commonly added to concrete used in the construction of pedestrian bridges to reduce the amount of cement in the concrete, eliminate segregation, and improve the corrosion resistance of the steel reinforcement, resulting in cost savings and improved quality of work.

Zirconium silicon fume can fill the pores between cement particles, and at the same time generate gel with hydration products and react with alkaline material magnesium oxide to generate gel. In the cement-based concrete, mortar and refractory castables, mixed with appropriate amount of Zirconium silicon fume, can play the following roles:
1、Significantly improve the compressive, flexural, impermeable, anticorrosive, anti-impact and wear-resistant properties.
2, with water retention, prevent segregation, water secretion, significantly reduce the role of concrete pumping resistance. On the basis of analysing the mechanism of Zirconium silicon fume on concrete, the optimum dosage of Zirconium silicon fume for pavement concrete was investigated in terms of flexural strength and economy, and the road performance such as strength, fatigue properties, brittleness, abrasion resistance and frost resistance was studied. The results show that the optimum dosage of 15-20 kg/m. of Zirconium silicon fume in pavement concrete can significantly improve the road performance of pavement concrete and reduce the cost of the project compared with that of pavement concrete without Zirconium silicon fume. Finally, the construction process and technical economy of Zirconium silicon fume pavement concrete were analysed, indicating that the application of Zirconium silicon fume concrete in pavement engineering is feasible.
