Pump Foot Valve

    Foot Valve, also known as Bottom Valve, is a type of valve primarily used to prevent water backflow.Foot valve and check valve have similarities in certain functions, both of which can prevent the backflow of the medium. But there are differences between the two in terms of working principles and application scenarios. Bottom valves are mainly used in situations where liquid flow direction needs to be controlled, while check valves are mainly used to prevent medium backflow, reduce pipeline energy loss, protect pipelines and other equipment, and prevent medium pollution.It is usually installed at the bottom of the suction pipe of a water pump or other pumping equipment to prevent the pumped water from flowing back to the water source. The design of the bottom valve aims to ensure that the water pump can smoothly suck in water during startup and prevent water backflow when the water pump stops working, thereby maintaining the normal operation of the system.

Structure and Principle
The foot valve is mainly composed of valve body, valve disc, valve cover, liner, sealing ring and other components. Valve bodies are usually made of materials such as cast iron, cast steel, or stainless steel, and have a certain weight and strength. The valve disc can be single, double, or multi disc, relying on its own weight or spring pressure to close and prevent water backflow. There are multiple inlet ports and reinforcement ribs on the valve cover to reduce the entry of debris and minimize the possibility of blockage.

Compared to other valve
Compared to gate valve, gate valves are mainly used for fully open or fully closed control and are not suitable for throttling. Compared to it, foot valves can control flow under certain conditions, but their main purpose is to prevent backflow. Compared to butterfly valve, butterfly valves are mainly used for flow control, characterized by simple operation and convenient flow regulation. Although foot valves can also perform basic flow control, their main function is still to prevent backflow, so their performance in flow control is not as precise as butterfly valves. Compared to ball valve, ball valve have good sealing performance and are suitable for scenarios that require frequent opening and closing. Bottom valves are simpler in structure and are suitable for situations that do not require frequent operation and have certain requirements for sealing performance.
