Bibcock taps serve the function of maintaining flow. Firstly, it connects with your house’s water source or supply line. Water flows out of the Bibcock when you turn it on. Similarly, turning off the tap stops water. Bibcock turns on when we turn the handle anti-clockwise. It releases the pressure from the washer inside the bib by moving the spindle upside through back spinning.  

The spindle movement provides extra space for the washer to slide up. At the same time, water from the primary source heavily pushes the washer from the seat due to its pressure. It enables the valve seat to open from where water flows out of the tap.

To turn off the water supply, we spin the handle clockwise. It reverses the same position. The spindle goes downward from the thread, which brings the washer down. The spindle pressure increases, which seals the valve seat and washer. In this condition, water can not flow across the tap and is stopped.
