Structure and principle of common mode inductors

Structure：

Common mode inductors are simple in structure and usually consist of two concentric windings. One winding is the primary winding and the other is the secondary winding. The main and secondary windings interact with each other by magnetic field, so that the common mode interference signal can be suppressed. Common-mode inductance

Principle：

The working principle of common mode inductors mainly involves the interaction of electromagnetic induction and magnetic field. When the current passes through the main winding, a magnetic field is formed in the main winding. At this time, if there is a common mode interference signal present in both the primary and secondary windings, then this interference signal will generate induced electromotive force in the secondary windings, thus forming a current in the secondary windings. This current creates a reverse magnetic field that interacts with the magnetic field in the main winding, thus cancelling out the common-mode interference signal and achieving the effect of suppression.

The insertion loss characteristic of a common-mode choke is measured by its impedance characteristic in the interference spectrum.

When choosing a common mode inductor, the following key factors should be considered:

Rated current: The common mode induction can safely withstand the expected operating current to avoid overheating or damage.

Size and installation mode: According to the space limitation and design requirements of the circuit board, select the appropriate size and installation mode of the common mode inductor.
