Brass vacuum breaker is a device used to eliminate vacuum in water supply pipelines and prevent siphon backflow, also known as suction valve or vacuum breaker valve. It is mainly made of corrosion-resistant brass material and connected to pipelines and other valves with external threads.The air inlet of the vacuum breaker is downward and should be installed according to the arrow on the valve body. If there is an automatic exhaust valve, it should be installed on the lower side of the exhaust valve.Therefore, it is widely used in systems that are prone to generating vacuum, such as fire protection system and water supply and drainage.

Comparison and application differences with check valve

Check valves are mainly used to prevent medium backflow, which is achieved through the automatic closure of the valve disc.The key to brass vacuum breakers is to break the vacuum.In some multi story building water supply systems, check valves are installed at the pump outlet to prevent water from flowing back to the pump when it stops.But in some locations where branch pipelines are connected to the main water supply pipeline, brass vacuum breakers are more suitable because they can prevent the adverse effects of vacuum caused by pressure changes in the main pipeline on the branch pipelines.
