Changan Hunter hydraulic steering gear is a hydraulic power steering gear, which is one of the most important components in the steering system. The hydraulic steering gear completes the conversion from rotational motion to linear motion (or approximately linear motion) through a gear mechanism, and also serves as a reduction transmission device in the steering system. Its main function is to increase the force transmitted from the steering wheel to the steering transmission mechanism, achieving safe and reliable operation while maintaining ease and flexibility of operation.

The hydraulic steering gear consists of a follower rotary valve and a cycloidal rotary stator pair, forming a cycloidal rotary valve type fully hydraulic steering gear. It, together with the oil supply pump, relief valve (or diversion valve), steering cylinder, and other connecting accessories, forms a fully hydraulic steering system.

The working principle of hydraulic steering gear mainly includes three steps:

In the middle position (when the steering wheel is not turned), the oil from the oil pump returns directly to the tank through the inside of the steering gear.

In the power steering mode, the oil from the oil pump enters the cycloidal pinwheel meshing pair (metering motor) through the follow-up valve. Based on the steering angle and direction of the steering wheel, the hydraulic oil is accurately quantified and directed into the left or right chamber of the cylinder, pushing the guide wheel to achieve power steering.

When the engine is turned off, manual steering is achieved by operating the steering wheel and driving the rotor of the metering motor to rotate through the valve core, shift pin, and linkage shaft inside the steering gear.
