Four stroke motorcycle engines are widely used in various types of motorcycles, including street bikes, off-road vehicles, and large displacement gasoline tricycle. It mainly consists of cylinders, pistons, connecting rods, crankshafts, etc. The working process of a four stroke engine can be simply divided into four strokes: intake stroke, compression stroke, working stroke, and exhaust stroke.
The first is the intake stroke of the Special Tricycle. During the intake stroke, the crankshaft drives the piston to move downwards, causing the intake valve to open and the piston to move downwards. Under the action of the intake valve, gasoline fuel and air enter the cylinder, forming a combustible gas mixture. Similarly, the exhaust valve remains closed.
Next is the compression stroke. During the compression stroke, the piston moves upwards, compressing the combustible gas mixture. At the same time, the compression process also exhausts the exhaust gas at the top of the intake stroke from the cylinder in preparation for the next working stroke.
The third is the working stroke, also known as the detonation stroke. During the working stroke, both the intake and exhaust valves close, and the piston begins to move downward. At this point, the pressure caused by the piston movement provides the driving force required by the engine. At the same time, the high-pressure combustible gas mixture is ignited, undergoes a combustion reaction, and generates expansion capacity, thereby pushing the piston downward. The crankshaft converts the rotational motion of the piston into the rotational motion of the crankshaft through the connecting rod.
Finally, there is the exhaust stroke. During the exhaust stroke, the piston moves upwards again and the exhaust valve opens. At this point, the exhaust gas is discharged outside the cylinder and discharged into the atmosphere through the exhaust pipe. And the movement of the piston will also enter a new cycle.
Of course, four stroke engines also face some challenges. The first issue is the weight. Due to its complex internal structure, four-stroke engines are often heavier than two-stroke engines. Secondly, the cost of a four stroke engine is relatively high. Compared to two-stroke engines, four-stroke engines have higher manufacturing costs, which also leads to higher selling prices for motorcycles.
