Basic information

Podophyllum resin of herbal extract is a resin-like substance extracted from the rhizomes of podophyllum (mainly plants such as Podophyllum japonicum), mainly from Podophyllum japonicum of the Berberidaceae family. The main component of podophyllum resin is podophyllotoxin, which is a lignan compound.

Application

1. Podophyllum resin uses solution is mainly used to treat genital warts. It is usually made into an external preparation and applied to the warts, which can cause the wart tissue to necrotize and fall off. Podophyllum resin mechanism of action can inhibit cell mitosis. In wart tissue, it can interfere with the polymerization of tubulin in wart cells, making them unable to undergo normal mitosis, thus leading to wart cell death. With cell necrosis, the wart gradually falls off, achieving the purpose of treatment.

2. Podophyllum resin solution flat warts, which mainly appear on the face and back of the hands. They are slightly raised flat papules. Podophyllin of plant extract has a toxic effect on the cells in these warts through a mechanism similar to that used to treat condyloma acuminatum, and can also cause them to fall off.
