Carvone is a member of a family of chemicals called terpenoids. Carvone is found naturally in many essential oils, but is most abundant in the oils from seeds of caraway (Carum carvi), spearmint (Mentha spicata), and dill.

Used in food such as chewing gum,( 68261681,peppermint oil L-carvone, mints L-menthol) is the main raw material of gummy flavoring. It is also used in medicine, as a mud compress, oral cooling agent, flavoring spices and toothpaste.
