Butanox M-50 is a universal methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP), which can be used to cure unsaturated polyester resin at room temperature and temperature under the joint action of cobalt accelerator. Butanox M-50/ Co accelerator curing system is especially suitable for curing gel coat resin, laminated resin, varnish and resin casting. But also can be used for the production of light-resistant products, contrary to benzoyl peroxide/amine accelerator curing system. Years of practical experience has proved that the Butanox M-50 is guaranteed to have low water content and no polar compounds.

Application field:

Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide is widely used in many fields, mainly including the following aspects:

1. Polymer and resin initiator: MEKP is a powerful polymer initiator, which is usually used to initiate the polymerization of thermosetting resins, such as glass fiber reinforced plastics (commonly found in ships, wind turbine blades and swimming pools), polyester resins and polyethylene. It transforms liquid resin into solid material by initiating free radical polymerization.

2. Composite materials: MEKP is often used to prepare glass fiber composite materials, such as glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP). In this process, MEKP, as an initiator, triggered the polymerization reaction between resin and glass fiber, thus forming a strong and lightweight structural material, which is widely used in aerospace, shipbuilding and other fields.

3. Paints and coatings: Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide is sometimes used in paints and coatings as an initiator to start the curing process of coatings. This is helpful to accelerate the drying and hardening of the coating and improve the durability and quality of the coating.
