Vacuum sintering of cemented carbide is a process of sintering at a temperature below 1 atm (1 atm=101325 Pa). Sintering under vacuum conditions greatly reduces the blocking effect of adsorbed gas on the powder surface and gas in the closed pores on densification, which is conducive to the diffusion process and densification, avoids the reaction of metal with some elements in the atmosphere during sintering, and can significantly improve the wettability of liquid bonding phase and hard phase. However, vacuum sintering should pay attention to preventing the evaporation loss of cobalt. Vacuum sintering can generally be divided into four stages, namely the plasticizer removal stage, pre-sintering stage, high-temperature sintering stage, and cooling stage.
