How to test a three-way solenoid water valve?
1. Appearance inspection
First, perform an appearance inspection on the coil of the dc micro solenoid water valve. Observe whether there is obvious damage, breakage, cracks, scratches or deformation on the surface of the coil. If there are these problems on the surface of the coil, you need to consider replacing the coil.
Technical Specification
Model | DSF3-A | Voltage | DC12V |
Current | 300mA | Power | 3.9W |
Media | Water | Flow | 2.0-3.0LPM |
Life test | 50000 cycles | Application | Coffee machine,water dispenser,water purifier |
2. Resistance measurement
1. Use a multimeter to adjust the range to a range suitable for measuring resistance, usually between tens of ohms and thousands of ohms.
2. Connect the two measuring leads of the multimeter to the two terminals of the coil respectively.
3. At this time, a resistance value will be displayed on the multimeter. According to the specifications and models of the dc solenoid water valve, this resistance value should be within a certain range. If the resistance value exceeds the rated range, or the resistance value is infinite (i.e. open circuit state), there may be a problem with the coil.

3. Coil temperature rise test
1. Connect the solenoid valve coil to the power supply and keep the current stable.
2. Use a thermocouple or other temperature detection equipment on the coil to detect temperature changes.
3. Within the specified time (the specific time depends on the specifications of the solenoid valve), record the temperature changes at different time points and calculate the temperature rise value.
According to the actual situation, if the temperature rise of the coil exceeds the specified range, or the temperature rise rate is much lower than the specified range, then there may be a problem with the coil. This may be caused by incomplete insulation of the coil, poor ventilation, poor connection, or reduced number of coil turns.

4. Current test
1. Use an ammeter or clamp ammeter to measure the current when the coil is energized.
2. According to the specifications and models of the mini electric water valve, determine whether the measured current is within the specified range.
If the measured current is significantly higher or lower than the rated current, or the current waveform is deformed, then there may be a problem with the coil. This may be caused by poor matching between the coil and the power supply, or a short circuit or open circuit inside the coil.
5. Listen to the sound to judge
After the mini dc water valve is energized, if it works properly, the coil will not only generate a magnetic field, but also make a noticeable clicking sound. This is the sound generated when the electromagnet core attracts the core to move. If this sound is not heard, or the sound is abnormal, then there may be a problem with the coil.
