DC contactor

A DC contactor is an electrical device used in a direct current circuit to control the current switch. Unlike AC contactors, DC contactors need to consider the characteristics of DC current, such as arc generation and extinction.

A DC contactor usually consists of an electromagnetic coil and a movable contactor. When the electromagnetic coil is energized, the resulting magnetic field attracts the movable contactor and makes it contact. In this way, the current can flow through the contactor to complete the closure of the circuit. When the electromagnetic coil is powered off, the magnetic field disappears, the movable contactor returns to its original position, and the circuit is disconnected.

Since the current does not change direction often in a direct current circuit, DC contactors require a special design to solve the arc problem. The arc is caused by the contactor when it disconnects the circuit, which can cause damage to the electrical equipment. In order to extinguish the arc, the DC contactor usually adopts the magnetic blow-out technology or the electromagnet arc extinguishing technology. These techniques use magnetic or electromagnetic forces to quickly separate the contactors and extinguish the arc.

Dc contactors are widely used in DC circuit control and protection, such as motor control, power system protection and so on. They can withstand higher currents and voltages and have a long service life and reliability.
