The thread protector is a manually-operated device designed to safeguard the external pin-end threads on casing. It is uncomplicated, durable, and reliable. Its quick and simple operation not only saves casing screw time but also reduces rig time, ultimately leading to cost savings.
This protective device comprises a robust spring-steel band encased within durable, abrasion-resistant rubber. It also features an adjustable cam-type latch assembly for easy manual locking and unlocking. Operating the thread protector involves placing it on the pin-end threads of the pipe, firmly pushing the handle towards the center of the pipe to securely lock it in place, and releasing by pulling the handle outward.
