ASTM A514 steel plate, also known as T-1 steel plate, is a commonly used quenched and tempered (Q&T) steel that offers high strength, weldability, and machinability. Because of these characteristics, A514 is often used in applications where wear and impact resistance are important.

A514 is heat treated by quenching and tempering, a two-step heat treatment process that alters the grain structure of the material to improve strength, hardness and toughness.

ASTM A572 steel plate is a commonly used high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) steel that is often used for structural purposes.A572 steel contains chemical alloys that increase the hardness and load-bearing capacity of the material, and the material is lighter than steels of similar composition.

A572 steel plate is available in five different grades: 42, 50, 55, 60, and 65. Each grade has slightly different mechanical properties and chemical composition, and therefore may be better suited for certain applications. However, A572-50 is the most common A572 grade.
