Application	Generally, boiler tubes are mainly used to make water wall tubes, boiling water tubes, superheated steam tubes, superheated steam tubes for locomotive boilers, large and small smoke tubes and arched brick tubes. High-pressure boiler tubes are mainly used to manufacture superheater tubes, reheater tubes, air ducts, main steam tubes, etc. of high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure boilers.

ASTM A179/ASME SA179 Standard covers minimum-wall thickness, seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer apparatus.

ASTM A179/ASME SA179 Tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be cold drawn. ASTM A179/ASME SA179 Tubes shall be heat treated after the final cold drawn pass at a temperature of 1200°F [650°C] or higher.

ASTM A179/ASME SA179 Tubes should do Product Analysis test, Hardness test, Mechanical Test, Flattening Test, Flaring Test, Hydrostatic Test or NDT Test if agreed by Client.

ASTM A192 / A192M is the standard applicable to seamless carbon steel boiler tubes for high-pressure service

ASTM A192 seamless steel tube sizes and thicknesses usually furnished to this specification are 1⁄2 in. to 7 in. [12.7 to 177.8 mm] outside diameter and 0.085 to 1.000 in. [2.2 to 25.4 mm], inclusive, in minimum wall thickness. Tubing having other dimensions may be furnished, provided such tubes comply with all other requirements of this specification.

ASTM A192 seamless steel tubes mechanical property requirements do not apply to tubing smaller than 1⁄8 in. [3.2 mm] inside diameter or 0.015 in. [0.4 mm] thickness.

One flaring test shall be made on specie- men from each end of two tubes selected from each lot or fraction thereof. These tubes shall be selected apart from those used for the flattening test.
