Ammonium heptamolybdate

Ammonium heptamolybdate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula (NH4) 6Mo7O24, belonging to the same polyoxometalate compound. It is a colorless to light green crystalline solid that is soluble in water and forms an acidic solution. The structure of ammonium heptamolybdate contains seven molybdenum atoms, twenty-four oxygen atoms, and six amino groups. At high temperatures, ammonium molybdate will decompose, releasing ammonia gas and oxygen compounds. Ammonium heptamolybdate is an important intermediate product in molybdenum metallurgy, which is the main raw material for producing molybdenum powder, molybdenum wire, and molybdenum based products. It is also used as a catalyst, flame retardant, pigment, and trace element fertilizer. In agriculture, ammonium heptamolybdate can be used as a base fertilizer. After processing with ordinary superphosphate, it can be transformed into superphosphate containing molybdenum, which is used for seed mixing or soaking to improve the germination rate of seeds. At different stages of crop growth, such as seedling stage, topdressing outside the roots is carried out to promote crop growth. In addition, ammonium molybdate is also used as a plant cell activator, which can promote the speed of plant rooting and has a promoting effect on the developmental stages of plant rooting, growth, reproduction, and fruiting.
