The process begins by melting the plastic into a parison, or in the case of injection and injection stretch blow molding, a preform. The parison is a tubular piece of plastic with a hole at one end through which compressed air can pass.
The parison is then clamped into a mold and air is blown in. The air pressure pushes the plastic out to fit the mold. After the plastic cools and hardens, the mold opens and the part is ejected.
