Because hydrogen has the characteristics of low density and small volume energy density, hydrogen compressors must have the characteristics of large pressure, large flow, safety and good sealing, and pursue less energy loss as much as possible while preventing hydrogen embrittling. At present, liquid drive compressors and diaphragm compressors are more used in domestic hydrogenation stations. Ionic liquid compressors are mainly used in foreign countries, and are generally used in hydrogenation stations with high hydrogen storage pressure (generally about 90 MPa).

The ionic liquid compressor made of the incompressibility of the ionic liquid itself has almost no vapor pressure, which has great advantages over the general hydrogen compressor because of the high pressure generated by the metal under isothermal conditions, and can run for a long time, reduce maintenance costs, and save energy consumption. The ion liquid compressor is simple in structure, and the parts are greatly reduced compared with ordinary compressors, so it is easy to maintain.
