High Purity Magnesium Plate

99.9% High Purity Magnesium Plate is a plate that contains 99.9% magnesium, with the remaining 0.1% being other impurities such as aluminium, copper, etc. This high purity allows the properties of magnesium to be demonstrated, while the relatively low level of impurities has a low impact on its properties. In practice, plates containing 99.9% magnesium are considered high purity magnesium plates, not ‘pure magnesium alloy plates’.

The density of magnesium is roughly 1.74g/cm³, so 99.9% High Purity Magnesium Sheet also has this property. It is significantly lighter in weight compared to common metals such as aluminium about 2.7g/cm³) and steel (about 7.85g/cm³). This means that it is lighter, which is advantageous in areas such as aerospace and automotive.

However, compared with magnesium alloy, the strength and ductility of 99.9% pure magnesium plate is relatively low. The general tensile strength is around 100Mpa, and the yield strength is around 40-60Mpa. However, it can still be used in some occasions where the requirements for strength and ductility are not high.

Magnesium is also a relatively active metal, 99.9% pure magnesium plate in the air easily easily react with oxygen to generate a layer of magnesium oxide film. Although this film can prevent magnesium from further oxidation to a certain extent, magnesium plate may still corrode in a humid or corrosive medium environment. Therefore, in the process of storage and use, it is usually necessary to take appropriate protective measures, such as painting, anodising and other surface treatment methods, in order to improve its corrosion resistance.
