The pulley type wire drawing machine is a non sliding dry continuous wire drawing machine with integrable lines; During the drawing process, there is no relative sliding between the steel wire and the surface of the drum in the circumferential direction of the drum, and the surface wear of both is relatively small. Moreover, when one of the intermediate drums is temporarily stopped, the following drums can still work normally for a period of time based on their respective accumulated wire quantities. This model has the advantages of simple structure, easy operation and maintenance, and low manufacturing cost.

The double drum drawing machine has been developed based on the pulley drawing machine due to the twisting phenomenon of the steel wire during the drawing process. This model has the advantages of a pulley drawing machine and eliminates the twisting phenomenon of steel wire during the drawing process, resulting in better cooling effect of steel wire on the drum. The double drum type wire drawing machine, like the pulley type wire drawing machine, has more guide wheels, especially the intermediate guide wheel between the upper and lower drums, which generates 180 degrees when the steel wire passes through it.

On June 28, 1999, the State Administration of Machinery Industry released the current national standard JB/T 7910-1999 for wire drawing machines. This standard came into effect on January 1, 2000 and replaced JB/T 7910-95 with this standard. The national standard for wire drawing machines was first released in March 1989 as GB 10600-89 and was adjusted to JB/T 7910-95 in April 1996. The current national standard JB/T 7910-1999 for wire drawing machines specifies the types of wire drawing machines, basic parameters of wire drawing machines, technical requirements of wire drawing machines, testing methods of wire drawing machines, acceptance rules of wire drawing machines, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of wire drawing machines, and manufacturing guarantees of wire drawing machines.
