The difference between common mode inductors and differential mode inductors

Common mode inductors and differential mode inductors are both inductive components, but their roles and application scenarios are slightly different.

Common mode inductors are often used to suppress common mode interference in circuits. Common mode interference refers to the interference signal that affects two signals in the circuit at the same time, and this interference usually comes from the external environment or other circuits. The common mode inductor is usually placed between the two signal lines of the circuit and is connected to the ground. When a common-mode signal enters a circuit, it is absorbed by a common-mode inductor with a higher impedance and leaks through the ground. Therefore, the common mode inductor can improve the anti-interference ability of the circuit and reduce the signal distortion and noise.

Differential mode inductors are usually used for transmission and processing of differential mode signals. A differential mode signal is a reverse equal signal that exists simultaneously on two signal lines. The differential mode inductor is usually placed between two signal lines, and the signal on the two signal lines is coupled by the differential mode inductor to produce a differential mode signal. Differential mode inductors can help circuits improve anti-interference ability, improve transmission quality and ensure circuit stability.

In addition, although common mode inductors and differential mode inductors are inductive components, their roles and application scenarios are different. Common mode inductors are mainly used to suppress common mode interference, and differential mode inductors are mainly used to transmit and process differential mode signals.
