The principle and function of common mode inductors in EMC circuits

Common mode inductors are common because of the common mode interference problem in EMC circuit design. Common-mode inductance is a device that can suppress common-mode interference. It has an inhibitory effect on common-mode signal with large inductance, but has little effect on differential mode signal with small leakage inductance. It is a powerful tool to eliminate electromagnetic compatibility problems in circuits.

Principle

The principle of common mode inductance is that the flow of common mode current will produce a large inductance, at this time the magnetic flux in the magnetic ring is superimposed on each other to achieve inhibition, and when the two coils flow through the differential mode current, the magnetic flux in the magnetic ring cancels each other, and there is almost no inductance, so the differential mode current is not affected. Common-mode inductors can effectively suppress common-mode interference signals in the line, but have no effect on the normal transmission of differential mode signals.
