AISI 1020 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe is a low hardenability and low tensile carbon steel with nominal values of 0.22%C and 0.55%Mn. AISI 1020 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe has excellent weldability, good machinability and high ductility, with a Brinell hardness of 119-235 and a tensile strength of 410-790 MPa. AISI 1020 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe is typically used in turned and polished or cold drawn condition. Due to the low carbon content of AISI 1020 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe, it is resistant to induction hardening or flame hardening. Due to the lack of alloying elements in AISI 1020 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe, it will not react to nitriding. However, to obtain surface hardness above Rc65, carburizing is possible for smaller sections that decrease with increasing section size.
