What is Marigold?

Marigold（Tagetes erecta L）Originating in Mexico, is an annual herbaceous plant of the genus Tagetes and now is planted in South of Yunnan, Xinjiang, and Northeast of China.

What is Lutein?

Lutein belongs to one of the carotenoids, not only an important natural pigment, but also an excellent antioxidant, and the main component of the macular region of the human eye retina.

In nature, Lutein is usually combined with fatty acids (such as lauric acid, palmitic acid, etc.) in the form of lutein esters  and widely exists in green vegetables and yellow/orange fruits. Marigold petals contain abundant amounts and can be used for industrial extraction. 

Function of Lutein

1. Lutein can prevent and slow age-related macular degeneration.
