The production of hot-dip galvanized steel sheets requires the use of high-quality substrates, and cold-rolled sheets, hot-rolled sheets or galvanized sheets are generally used as substrates. In addition, some auxiliary materials such as additives, gases, acids and alkalis are also required in the production process.

Before hot-dip galvanizing, the substrate must be surface treated. This is because the dirt and oxides on the surface of the substrate will have an adverse effect on the formation of the galvanized layer. Surface treatment includes degreasing, rust removal, pickling, water sprinkling and other links, and quality inspection is also required to ensure that the surface quality of the substrate meets the requirements.

The surface-treated substrate enters the hot-dip galvanizing tank for galvanizing. Hot-dip galvanizing is to completely immerse the substrate in molten zinc so that it fuses with zinc to form a zinc-iron alloy layer. This layer can not only effectively protect the substrate, but also reduce the thermal expansion coefficient of the substrate and improve its rigidity and strength.

The substrate after hot-dip galvanizing needs to be cooled to make it dissipate heat evenly and prevent uneven deformation caused by temperature changes. Common cooling methods are air cooling and water cooling.

After cooling, the hot-dip galvanized steel sheet needs to be coated to improve its surface corrosion resistance and aesthetics. Hot-dip coating, electrophoretic coating and other methods are usually used for coating.
