Product details

Off-axis parabolic mirror, also known as OAP mirror, is a type of reflective surface that is designed to focus light to a point without introducing spherical aberration. Off-Axis Parabolic mirror offers unique advantages in optical system by providing a means to focus or collimate light efficiently while minimizing obstructions and improving image quality. MG-Optics has perfected the production of light-weighted off-axis aspheric mirror made from aluminum, ULE, Zerodur and a variety of optical materials.

 Key Features:

- Shape: An OAP mirror has the shape of a paraboloid, but unlike a conventional parabolic mirror where the focal point is located along the axis of symmetry, an OAP mirror is designed so that the focal point is off-axis.
- Design: The mirror is typically a segment of a larger paraboloid, with the axis of the paraboloid being offset from the optical axis of the system.

Applications:
- Astronomy:Used in telescopes to avoid central obstructions and improve image quality.
- Imaging Systems: Employed in applications requiring high-resolution imaging.
- Laser Systems:Used for focusing laser beams without central obstructions.

Off-axis aspheric mirror serve in high precision imaging applications for aerospace and defense, such as in telescopes, laser focusing systems, and optical communication devices. They have stringent quality requirements, its use comes with challenges related to manufacturing and metrology complexity.

Manufacturing and testing capacity:

Large diameter: MG-Optics produces OAP mirrors to 600mm in diameter with off-axis distances as far as 30mm or more. Large mirrors can easily be seen light-weighted structures on the backside.

Accuracy: MG-Optics focus on manufacturing extremely high precision aspheric mirror, accuracy achieves 1/100λor better.

Surface test: MG-Optics will also design custom CGH null for OAP mirror to make more precision optical metrology. The CGH converts a collimated wavefront to a diverging wavefront and off-axis angle varying slope to match the off-axis parabola.

Surface roughness: OAP mirror is used in hyperspectral and multispectral imaging applications require high performance across a wide range of wavelengths.surface roughness becomes more critical. MG-Optics achieves surface roughness of Ra less than 5nm for optical metal mirror.

Optical Coating: MG-Optics provide UV-enhanced aluminum (250 - 450 nm), protected aluminum (450 nm - 20 µm), protected silver (450 nm - 20 µm) and protected or unprotected gold (800 nm - 20 µm) for your choice.
