Characteristics and application of tungsten electrode

The main characteristics of tungsten electrodes include a high melting point (3683℃±20℃), good electron emission ability, high elastic modulus, and low vapor pressure. These characteristics enable tungsten electrodes to maintain stable performance at high temperatures and are suitable for various welding conditions. To further improve the welding performance of tungsten electrodes, rare earth oxides such as cerium oxide, lanthanum oxide, zirconium oxide, yttrium oxide, and thorium oxide are usually added to tungsten. These additives can improve the arc starting performance, arc column stability, and ablation resistance of tungsten electrodes.
